return of the redhead errant
No, I wasn't dead, incarcerated, or spending much needed time in the sanitarium. I was swamped and downtrodden with various holiday travels, hosting large parties of wantonness (well, not quite), tearing up my wreck room and doing tons of stuff for church. Oh, and continuing to babysit the two girls while staying home with the Screaming Harlot.

I shall try to cover the high points here. Got a check from my in-laws large enough to buy me that plane ticket to London I've been coveting. I will not be buying it immediately, as my dad is momentarily unable to make a similar purchase. The plan is to go visit over Thanksgiving, unless by some miracle I get an invite to StepfordTart's wedding. Then I shall naturally go cheer & clap & bring some thoroughly inappropriate gift.

Conveniently, the check was also large enough to help pay for the total annihilation.. urm, I mean *revamping* of our current downstairs family type room, affectionately referred to as the wreck room. So, rather than spend all of Sandy's New Years Eve visit hanging out & having fun, I spent lots of time dealing with boxes of my things out in a shockingly cold garage. But the billiard room wallpaper is down (except for the patch behind our desk) and patching, priming, and painting has begun.

I've also created my latest $1200 IKEA shopping list, which is part of the great revamp. I'll be purchasing new desk, furnishing the "childcare center" portion of the room, and maybe get some cookies and a bottle of sparkling juice. When you have to drive nearly 250 miles to the store, you plan the purchases to within an inch of your life because returns mean another 500 mile round trip. NowMyHusband might hate driving 4 hours to go shopping--I hate driving 4 hours to wait in a long line to make a return. I buy everything I might need, and if I over shop, I live with it. Or try to schedule a trip to visit Sandy in Brooklyn so I can swing by the IKEA in New Jersey.

As far as the church front goes, our minister has resigned to take a post closer to her husband's church. I was not completely surprised--God seemed to be dropping some hint bombs on her last year. Apparently I'm the only one not in shock. She did give a one month notice, though, so things aren't in the state of utter panic that they could be. But, being a serving Elder of the Church, I get to pick up some of the slack. So I foresee even less time to keep you all filled in on things in the Pegverse. sigh.

Mostly because I still need to catch up on sleep from Christmas. I think I'll go do some of that now.

Hugs to all, and to all a good night!
