destruction in all its glory
We've been quite busy here in the Pegverse as of late. With autumn upon us, NMH decided that we really should begin re-landscaping the front yard. And by "re-landscaping" I mean pull out all (well, most) of the bushes I wanted to remove 2 years ago.

And because this is a project near to my heart, I have been doing ACTUAL PHYSICAL LABOR! Yes, loyal readers, Peggey has been attacking non-English boxwoods and cedar bushes with reckless abandon. Well, not quite, as I am really allergic to cedar needles. They give me welts and make me itch rather abominably. So I am taking some precautions--wearing sensibly long pants and long sleeve t-shirts, rubber-coated work gloves, safety glasses. Oh, yes, I'm dead sexy alright....

But this protection comes at a price. The price being lots of sweat. Because this week, the weather has decided to be beautiful first thing in the morning. FirstBorn hasn't needed a jacket to stay warm while waiting at the bus stop. I, cold-natured though I be, am quite comfortable going out in a short sleeve shirt. Wearing a long sleeve shirt to do actual MANUAL LABOR--double ugh! But it beats the itchy welts any day. Can you tell how badly I want this project done? I used a MATTOCK! I brought three little girls outside to witness me using hand tools. Unpowered hand tools, at that!

And even with giant holes in the ground and large piles of dead/cut brush and a scratch on my head (because I wasn't wearing a hat to attack the second cedar bush and got scraped at the ponytail line) it looks *so* *much* *better.* I am tempted to take pictures and e-mail them to all my friends because it makes me so happy.

But now I must break from the glory that is ripping up plants and clean my house for the arrival tonight of my absolute favorite cousin on the planet. She is coming with me to the football game Saturday--it will be good, but possibly a bit sad. The last time she came into town for a football game was to spread some of her grandfather's ashes. I cannot be at the stadium with her and not think of him, too. Even if he was an opinionated old man who told lousy stories....

OK, off to the drudgery that is house cleaning... BLEH!
