women of consequence
A friend of mine is dealing with splitting off from a nice (if somewhat lumpy) man after two years due to his slack attitude towards her. To which I say--Hurah!
Which got me thinking--why do the men in our lives act as though we are inconsequential? I do not think they actually consider us unimportant, they just don't do a good job of conveying how, and how much, they value us. In the case above, my friend was not nearl as valued as she wanted--hence the split. Other friends....
My friend HBrOne recently had a bit of marital breakdown over Mother's Day. Her husband did nothing, nor did her 5 sons. After much prodding from me, she wrote Mr.BrOne a letter detailing the size and substance of his (put politely) gaff. He knew he'd made a mistake, he just didn't know what *exactly* the mistake was.
So perhaps the problem is that we expect them to read our minds. Which is really foolish, since, if you really think about it, the *last* thing a woman wants is to have all her secrets revealed. One cannot have selective mindreading--doesn't work that way.
